Livin' the High Life

In the past 16 months I really have not ventured out much. It is much of a reality when you have your first child that you have to set your schedule and life around the baby. At first I resented giving up my independence and being a social butterfly, then I got used to it. However, now I am about to have another baby which will make me even more of a hermit than I am now. I think this transition will be a little easier because I will know what to expect.

So, all this to say, Jonathan surprised me this weekend and we stayed in Hotel ZaZa in the museum district for Saturday night after his reunion. It was the second time for me to spend the night away from Keegan, but I knew he was in good hands because Christine stayed overnight at our house and took care of him. The one thing that Jonathan did not factor in was that it was daylight savings time and Keegan woke up at 5am instead of 6am. (I felt a little guilty about this all weekend.) On top of that, he had a fever the next day. Christine was amazing, like she always is, and rolled with the punches. You know I am so grateful for her and the sacrifice she made this weekend...not taking advantage of the extra hour of sleep.

We left at 1 pm on Saturday and went to Lamar High School's Homecoming football game. We only stayed for an hour because it was stinking hot, and a metal hot bench is not a pregnant ladies friend. We made it over to the hotel and it was literally the trendiest hotel I have ever been in. It was one of those environments that you did not really fit into because you felt like you could bump into a celebrity at any moment. It was very modern chic and if it did not make me look like the ultimate tourist I would have taken more pictures of the inside. If you love hotels like I do, you should take a look at their website. For $18,000 you can rent one of their suites for a night. Goodness. What else I would do with that money!

We made it over to the reunion, after a tasty dinner at "The Raven", and it was much easier being the guest this time around. For Jonathan, he was nervous, but for me it was a piece of cake. Most of his friends did not come so he was disappointed, but I had the chance to meet some people I have heard about. The school hired a reunion team to organize it and the funniest thing to me is that part of the $75 dollars that you paid was to get a reunion t-shirt. Jonathan immediately claimed it as a rag or a "mow the lawn" shirt. I am amazed that they did not put everyone's name on the back with an '07 watermarked in the back.

It was a great get-away and I felt refreshed sleeping in and having breakfast in bed. I am amazed that Jonathan kept it a secret for over a month because usually I am very perceptive! He kept me clueless until right before Christine showed up. I should have caught on because he was busy washing sheets and getting things ready around the house for Christine to come. I appreciate so much his thoughtfulness even though he has dealt with a truly hormonal woman as of late. (I guess I should admit that I made it a point to talk about all my friends baby-moons and how fun it looked.) I love him that he can look beyond my jealousy and see the need to escape for 24 hours with just him.

Here are a few pictures of our hotel room.

Totally agree with this cute little pillow...the feet don't lie. (especially when put in that occasional Target shoe that destroys your foot by the end of the day)

Amen on the Target shoes.

And what an awesome thing for your hubby to do! Sweet!

We stayed at the Lancaster on our wedding night--another one I would definitely recommend. It was downtown.
