17 and Counting...

Have you been keeping up with the Dugger family in Arkansas? If not, I would like to introduce you to Jim Bob and Michelle who have 17 children as of August 2nd. She is quoted saying that children are as beautiful as flowers and you could never have too many. Yahoo news said that within 30 minutes of the birth that they were going to try for more. It also states these interesting facts: A baby has been born in every month except June; the Duggars have gone through an estimated 90,000 diapers, and Michelle, 40, has been pregnant for 126 months — or 10.5 years — of her life. I can not imagine the shape that women's uterus is in! Michelle is one disciplined, organized, and patient woman! Discovery Health covers their life in video documentaries, so you can catch some episodes on tv based on their family. The last one I watched, the family built their own house! It was strange to see 8 year olds with drills, but the house turned out beautiful!

If you would like to read more of the yahoo story, check out this link.

Or check out Discovery Health for more facts on this family.

I didn't know they had a tv show! I will definitely have to check that out. The fact that surprised me the most was that she has been pregnant for 10.5 years. Wow! Never.

I love watching their specials on Discovery. And they have no debt, which is totally unbelievable with a family that size.

The fact that each child is significant, loved and an integral part of the family is awesome. She feels she is to give life to each child God gives her and I respect them for that.

My hubby comes from a family of 14 that never had government help of any kind. It is hard to tell by today's welfare system, but it can be done.

I have never seen the show, but I'm sure that each child has their own job to contribute to helping out!!! :) I am sooo interested in seeing that!!! We don't have cable, but does anyone know where else I could see it? I'll check to see if they have anything about it online! Glad you blogged about, Michelle! I hadn't heard about them! :)
